Heritage 4: 15 years and up (level B2)
This class is taught exclusively in German and prepares the students to successfully take the DSD II exam (“Deutsches Sprachdiplom”) to receive the German Language Certificate of the German Education Authorities on level B2/C1 of the Common European Framework of References for Languages. This certificate entitles foreign students to enroll in universities in Germany. Students will learn to express themselves logically and coherently (“verbal communication”) regarding topics above and beyond their personal environment and their individual field of interest such as sociopolitical topics and cultural issues. It is of utmost importance to learn how to justify his/her own opinion. As far as written communication is concerned, the students will learn to evaluate texts about above mentioned topics and to discuss in writing the key topic of the text by weighing the pros and cons (“dialectical discussion” or in a straight line (“linear discussion”) with a logical conclusion at the end. Students will earn how to prepare a presentation with opposing viewpoints on the C1 language level. They can deal with every situation typically encountered when traveling in Germany or studying at a university. Students stay in this class for a year and a half and take the DSD II exam after the third semester.
Classes can be cancelled and refunded by the student/parent until September 22rd or 10 days after any registration beyond that date. A non-refundable registration fee of $15.00 is included in all fees.
