About us

The Naperville German Language School is a non - profit school which teaches students from pre-Kindergarten through adult ages. We maintain a total of 10 different ability levels, to accomodate all students. Our classes are enriched by conversation, German culture and extra curricular activities, such as our Christmas party, and the celebration of various
German holidays and customs.
We believe in learning German and having fun at the same time, which keeps the children interested.  A total of 6 professionally qualified teachers instruct our classes.
As proud members of GLSC (German Language School Conference) and PASCH (worldwide network of schools, an initiative designed to awaken interest in young people in modern Germany and the German language) we are comitted to providing a positive learning experience, and effective and quality teaching of the German language and culture.

Willkommen zur Deutschen Schule in Naperville!

Welcome to the German Language School of Naperville! I am excited to be back at our same location, Congregation Beth Shalom, on 772 5-th Ave in Naperville.
We are able to use 8 classrooms, if needed. Our location is also very close to downtown Naperville, about 2 minutes by car. Plenty of parking space is available.

We are a very active German school that celebrates all the German holidays: Lantern parade in November, St. Nikolaus, Christmas at the Naperville City Hall, Karneval, and a graduation party at the end of the school year. Please look at the school
schedule and write down special school activities in your calendar, so you will not have any surprises later. Thank you!

The first Friday of the month is a short class. All classes that start at 5 p.m. will be over at 6:30 p.m, due to a service at the Synagogue.

We are offering a bus trip to Chicago this year. Saturday, December 3rd, at 10:30 a.m. we leave for the Lincoln Park Zoo. There, we can either stay outside and watch the animals, or we can go inside, if it gets too cold. After about 2 hours we hop on the bus again and drive to the Christkindlmarkt. This is an authentic German Christmas market. We will be back before 5 p.m. The fee is $ 5.00 per adult and is due before October 26. Please sign up early.

All our teachers will be back. That is really great.

As in the past years several children took the AATG test, a test given by the Association of German teachers in the US. This test is given to the high school students. We had several students, even younger than high school age who did very well this year.

For the first time we offered the ZDP test to the native speaking class. This test is administered by the German government. Once the students get older and they continue to take this test at higher levels, it will help, should they choose to study in Germany. Well done, students!

Please do not hesitate to contact me during the year, if you have any concerns regarding the school. We like to hear from you, also if you have positive remarks.

We try very hard to offer a German Language school at the highest level.
Have a safe summer and see you in class.

Comments, suggestions

"Speaking of ... We are very impressed with the class so far. Sabine is doing an incredible job of playing to all of the boy's development levels and the activities she engages them in are truly wonderful! This is, by far, the best program that we've enrolled our son in and it's a bonus that he's working on his German at the same time! Thank you for everything!" - Megan & Elliott Berck
